by the way,

download the new Slum Village EP off itunes dont be a cheap mofo and download it off limewire and/or bittorrent. Support good music without you we are stuck with the trash on the radio. Anyways the new Slum Village LP contains production from Pete Rock, BR Gunna, Madlib, and of course James Yancey. To add to the anticipation it will contain unreleased J Dilla beats and verses, maybe some singing.

OJ Simpson is guilty and MAD,

Download Coroners Music!

The charisma that Detroit’s heavy hitting MC Guilty Simpson and the Los Angeles based Beat Konducta Madlib share is undeniable. A string of songs going back to Guilty’s first appearance on wax (Jaylib’s “Strapped”) testify to a musical kinship that is rare in today’s rapper-as-an-accessory marketplace. To us, Guilty over a Madlib beat is like hearing Guru over Premier circa Daily Operation, or CL over Pete around the time they recorded “Straighten It Out.” Some times, a rapper and a producer just work well together.

The two together making OJ Simpson, Madlib (Otis Jackson) and Guilty Simpson. OJ Simpson is the name of the album. No, you won’t hear Guilty make any references to bloody gloves. No, you won’t catch Madlib driving a bronco. These are some 14 hard hitting, straight from the gutter hip hop tracks featuring Guilty’s inimitable baritone and a couple guest appearances (Elzhi, Strong Arm Steady). Some cuts by J.Rocc. And a whole bunch of attitude. This is one of our favorite projects in a while.

We’re releasing this teaser single – the title track and the needs-nothing-more-than-the-title verbal onslaight that is “Coroner’s Music” - to remind you of the hip hop you’ve missed. The album drops this fall.

props to nahright!

dopest mix i've heard so far,

Madlib is not only a great producer but he is probably one of the best DJs out. I like this mix alot it has alot of the great reggae/dub artists I like ( Horace Andy, Augustus Pablo, King Tubby, Lee Perry ). If you love reggae and dub or just want to listen to a great mix you need to hear Blunted in the Bomb Shelter.

and the song of the year award goes to...

WOW! I didn't even know that Slick Rick still had it in him this song left me in awe and thats very rare. Madlib on the beat!

lord Quas,

Madlib's alter-ego this is some of the trippiest hip hop that i've ever heard in my life. His flow is upsurd and his voice would be annoying by itself, but put him over a madlib beat and this is some amazing music. Check him out, he has 2 albums The Unseen and The Further Adventures of Lord Quas

Augustus Pablo.

Since tomorrows 4/20 all my posts will be about Jamaican musicians so heres the second one. Augustus Pablo was one of the fathers of Dub music. He was the first person to use the melodica as a main instrument. I like to listen to his music when I wake up it makes me feel great. He should not be overlooked, and no he's not related to Bob Marley. Madlib uses a sample from "Heavy Duty" from the album Aquarius Dub by Augustus Pablo, for the song Heavy from Jaylib's Champion Sound.
